About Us
Our background
We are Cooks that Care- an organization focusing our work in the areas of food insecurity, culinary education, and career opportunity. We are a catering team of professionals united to stamp out hunger and poverty by providing nutritious and delicious catering and using our proceeds, community partnerships, food rescue efforts, and food donations to support our community with food service, culinary education, and employment programs. We also partner with individuals and organizations who do not offer food service as a community outreach effort.
Our Founder - Nekia Kelley
Through my work as a nutrition specialist at the Veteran Affairs Hospital and my personal community work, I began connecting with veterans and other vulnerable populations. I started to develop relationships and would provide those in need with food, toiletries and other necessary items. I wanted to do more to help my community, so I began coordinating give-a-ways in my community. Other individuals in the culinary and hospitality industry saw the work that I had begun and were excited about the opportunity to give back. We thought about ways we could serve and provide unique opportunities for service using our skills. The concept for Cooks that Care was birthed from these experiences.

As an organization, we strive to reduce hunger and food insecurity of people in need and provide access to hope and change.
